Hi! My name is Randi-Lyn…
I’m an author, a wife, a mother, a special hockey team founder/program director, a goalie, a special needs advocate builder, an astral photographer/space nerd, a coffee enthusiast, a Beach Boys fanatic, a doer of God’s good work, and a firm believer that angel’s wear hockey jersey’s.
My Mission:
To help as many people as possible through my written work. It's pretty simple. I love to help people. I started my Puzzled Parent series after meeting a woman with 5 children at a pizza place. They all had been diagnosed with autism and she had absolutely no emotional support, resources, or knowledge of what was available to her. I knew right there and then what my purpose in life should be - to share everything I know about raising a child who has autism. There were other driving forces that inspired me to share my story as well, but this experience really made my mission clear. Maybe my methods will not be the final answer for everyone, I'd fall over if they were. I just figured by sharing my journey, it would help others build a foundation of their own and have a path to start on. My first book is 100% non-profit, as all the royalties are donated to non-profit organizations that help people who have autism. I was told I'm bold for starting my career with the intention of being a "professionally poor" author, but I don't see it that way. Being rich, to me, isn't about money. It's about the things that can't be bought - the amount of love and support we share with others. It's about climbing to the top of our potentials and reaching down to lift others up. My mission is to bring people happiness, comfort, and inspiration through my books. I'm an introverted-extrovert, so it's not always easy for me to say what I'm feeling inside- but it's a snap to write it out in words. I hope my work helps people, or at least brings them a sense of peace through chaotic times.
My Favorite Quote:
A Little About Me:
I'm an ambitious momma bear who is dedicated full time to my family. I'm a self-published author of 7 books so far (and a bunch more to come). I made the decision to be "self-published" early on because there's a sense of relief in knowing I'm in complete control of my projects, deadlines, and production of new materials. Nothing is more important than ones mental health, so I try to take life's situations by the day and make the best of things. I love listening to music with my son (our favorite is Brian Wilson, his music has healing powers and we listen to him sing every day).
Out and About!
I completed my training as a Family Navigator through The Center for Family Involvement at VCU and I sincerely look forward to reaching out and helping families by providing emotional support and guidance. Attended the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health IFSP summit and was absolutely blown away by the amount of education I received on development delays and just how many organization and resources there are available to families in need of services! I look forward to sharing this treasure trove of information with the world through my social media blogs! (links provided below).
